Sound familiar?

You know a lot of shapes. You just can't see how they connect.

Same box, every solo

Your hands go to the same pentatonic position no matter what the chord is doing.

Theory that stays on paper

You can name the notes in a chord, but finding them on the neck in real time is another story.

No clear next step

Random videos and licks pile up without adding up to real progress.

The Conscious Guitar method

One path, in order. Each step builds on the last.

Step 1

See it

Map every interval around a root with Interval Orbits, so the neck stops being a mystery.

Step 2

Hear it

Connect each shape to its sound, so you play what you hear instead of what your fingers remember.

Step 3

Play it

Turn shapes into arpeggios, voicings and lines you can use over real chord changes.

The Conscious Guitar library

The free sample is just the start.

Each book picks up where the last one leaves off, from single intervals to shell voicings and full arpeggios. Reading the Changes is a chord-reading track to work through alongside it.

Lee Barbour

Lee is a professional jazz guitarist based in Charleston, South Carolina. He is a former adjunct professor of jazz guitar at the College of Charleston and a former teacher at the New York City Guitar School. Conscious Guitar is the system he built from decades of learning and experimenting as a teacher and player. It's a method primarily for players who already know their way around the instrument but can't get to the next level.

“I've hit and broken through so many plateaus over 30 years of playing and studying guitar. I'm hoping I can help you bypass many of the roadblocks that had me stuck for years.”
